This was one of the most joyful spaces to create.
Its a Hedingham chambers double decker bus that was craned into a school courtyard destined to be turned into a library.
The brief was to create a a setting that moved away from the conventional library look and was super colourful and engaging – right up our street.
By zoning the areas, we created storage shelving, a ‘secret space’ (named by the children), an area for focus group learning and several seating areas including the kidney pods.
With the use of a contained colour palette (primary) and playful flooring, we transformed this tired space into a library that any child of any age and reading ability would love to explore.
This design was a real local effort due to the fact that it became a donation funded project.
